A Hunger Games prequel is being released NEXT YEAR
This is not a drill
This is the news we have all been waiting for since 2015, when we were all sat in the cinema dressed up as Katniss Everdeen. A hero.
But that four year wait seems to be offically over as the creator of the hit Hunger Games trilogy Suzanne Collins has confirmed she has written another book, which will be released next year! It might not be a film, but it's good enough!
She revealed the book will be released May 19th 2020 but is yet untitled.
Confirming the news on the offical Hunger Games Instagram account, Suzanne wrote, 'With this book, I wanted to explore the state of nature, who we are, and what we perceive is required for our survival.
She added, 'The reconstruction period ten years after the war, commonly referred to as the Dark Days—as the country of Panem struggles back to its feet—provides fertile ground for characters to grapple with these questions and thereby define their views of humanity'.
Whilst this isn't confirmation that there will be a film, it's highly likely one will be made, following the huge success of the three previous films, The Hunger Games, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, which have raked in nearly $3 billion since its release.
20 reasons why the Hunger Games' Katniss Everdeen is the best female role model ever!
But it's sad news for fans as a prequel means Jennifer Lawrence, Chris Hemsworth or Josh Hutcherson will most likely not feature. Although, they'll be there in spirit no doubt.
Fans are also as happy as us here at heatworld, with many commenting on the official post. One user wrote, 'YES YES YESSS MY DREAM CAME TRUE!!! 😍❤️❤️' with another commenting, 'Next Suzanne HAS TO write about Katniss and Peetas kids or their life after where the book and movie left off!'.
We can't wait!
