We could barely contain our excitement when it was announced that a reboot of the 1990 classic film Home Alone was coming our way! Dubbed Home Sweet Home Alone, the film officially landed on streaming platform Disney+ on 12th November 2021 - just in time for the festive season!

The trailer for the highly-anticipated film was released on 12th October, and even featured a VERY familiar face! Kevin's brother Buzz from the original film can be seen all grown-up as a police officer in the new film, look closely and you'll see 'McCallister' written on his uniform!

Disney+ had already teased us with a series of photos of the start-studded cast, including the likes of Ellie Kemper, Rob Delaney, Aisling Bea and Kenan Thompson. Young Archie Yates will also star in the film, alongside other huge names like Tim Simons and Aly Maki.

On 12th August 2021, Disney+ wrote: 'Three months until we’re #HomeSweetHomeAlone. The all-new Original Movie starts streaming November 12 on #DisneyPlus'.

Despite the ongoing debate of whether or not Home Alone is a Christmas film, fans were excited to learn that the 2021 reboot of the classic will be with us in time for the festive season.

Others, however, couldn't help but fantasise about how great it would be if Home Alone legend Macaulay Culkin, who played the original Kevin McCallister, made an appearance in the reboot, with one fan commenting: 'It would’ve been cool if Macaulay Culkin was like the dad or something'.

We're thinking Mac might have been a tad busy, being a new dad and all...

Home Sweet Home Alone's plot revolves around a young boy named Max Mercer, played by Archie Yates. As you can probably decipher from the original films, Max was mistakingly left behind, at home, as the family head on their holibobs - this time, to Japan!

Disney announced the news that a Home Alone reboot would be heading our way back in 2019, leaving fans pretty divided. Although this film will be the sixth overall title in the Home Alone series, it is the first film in an overall reboot of the franchise.

Home Sweet Home Alone is available to stream now on Disney+.

The film will be set around Christmas time, making it a perfect festive movie for 2021!
