Charlie Hunnam: I wake up in a panic before going on chat shows

He's taken on the title role in King Arthur: The Legend of the Sword, but actor Charlie Hunnam admits there are days he wishes he had a simpler life.

Best known for his TV roles on Queer as Folk and Sons of Anarchy, Charlie is set to become one of the UK's biggest exports.

This year alone he's starred in The Lost City of Z alongside Spiderman star Tom Holland and now he's playing the man who pulled Excalibur from the stone in Guy Ritchie's latest flick.

His version of the legendary King is scared to take up his role as leader of the people, and Charlie says that's something he connects with.

"There are moments where you don't feel up to the task...and you just want to shy away.

"Yesterday I did 14 hours of interviews culminating in the Graham Norton Show and I woke up in the middle of the night the night before in a panic thinking, I don't know if I have the energy and focus and charisma to get through today."

As well as the serious stuff, Charlie told us how he's trying to cultivate the 'cashmere caveman' look.

To clarify, that is apparently when you're a bit of double geezer, but enjoy wearing pink shirts.

He said this while applying lip balm and talking about the importance of keeping your lips hydrated, before admitting he really wanted to wear a pocket square.

It's a sign of how far he's come, with Charlie admitting that when he first got a big pay check he went out and bought every pair of trainers he had ever wanted. He ended up with over 100 - but told us he's over that fad now.

We also caught up the film's director, Guy Ritchie, who defended his version of King Arthur, saying it would be boring to tell the story the same way it's already been told.

But the director was incredibly tight lipped when it came to his next project, the live-action remake of Aladdin.

They've held open auditions in the UK in search of unknown actors to take on the lead roles of Aladdin and Princess Jasmine. There's also rumours Will Smith will play the Genie.

Guy admits he wanted to do the film because his younger children will get to see the flick, but also as it's a new challenge and genre for him to take on.
