Avengers: Infinity War is the biggest film that Marvel has ever attempted. Bringing together all of our favourite superheroes to the screen together for the first time to battle the evil Thanos. Now that the film is out, fans have been flocking to the cinema, but whilst they are loving the film, everyone seems to be talking about the post-credits scene.

While fans of the Marvel films will know that the post and mid-credit scenes are an important part, the release of the most recent film has fans talking.

WARNING SPOILERS

In the Avengers: Infinity War post-credits scene Samuel L. Jackson's character, Nick Fury, and Cobie Smulders's character Commander Maria Hill, can be seen in New York City. Then, when evil Thanos clicks his fingers half of the world's population is erased and cars start crashing on the road around them.

As Nick and the Commander struggle to cope with the chaos it's not long before Maria finds herself feeling the effects of Thanos's power as she begins to disappear! Meanwhile Nick, who is trying to use a pager to send a distress call, also begins to disappear. Luckily, however it seems his message did get through as the Captain Marvel logo can be seen on its screen as it falls to the floor. Finally, at the end of the scene it cuts to black.

So, what could this all mean?!

Well, while we'll have to wait until next year for the next installment in the Marvel Universe. The last image of the film with the Captain Marvel logo clearly points towards the next film which will star Brie Larson debuting as Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel in the forthcoming solo film.

And actress Brie is clearly very excited about Avengers: Infinity War taking to Twitter to tell her fans, 'WE SAW INFINITY WAR AND KNOW EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS IN IT OMG' sic

Brie was announced to be playing the role of Captain Marvel back in 2016 much to her fans' delight. Brie is best known for her role in Room in 2015 for which she won an Oscar for Best Actress. She will be the first person to play the superhero on screen.

Samuel L. Jackson is expected to return as Nick in next year's film, which is set in the 90s.

Since Avengers: Infinity War release fans have been taking to Twitter to remind others they MUST stay until the very end, for the vital post-credits scene.

Take a look at the best movies from last year:

20. The Lost City Of Z

2013's The Immigrant is sadly still waiting for a UK release, so praise be to the cinematic gods that James Gray's The Lost City Of Z arrived without delay. Based on the true-life tale of British explorer Percy Fawcett (Charlie Hunnam), this dense but always gripping biopic is part political drama, part family drama and part adventure.
On discovering the remnants of an indigenous society, Fawcett spent his life trying to prove his Amazonian finds until his unexplained disappearance in 1925. Containing one of the most beautiful scenes of the year, this undseen gem deserves, nay, demands your attention.

Ahead of the release of Avengers: Infinity War Lucy from Clyde 1's Entertainment Team met up with two of the stars, Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Holland who play Dr Strange and Spiderman. Speaking to the two actors, Lucy asked them what it was like to be memed. Both actors have been the subject of a number of memes, including Tom Holland's frog meme and Benedict's John Travolta meme.

Lucy also asked the pair about the first time they met and it was rather unusual!
