Simon Cowell Calls US Talent Show Market 'A Joke'

Plus hear his thoughts on his child's accent!

Simon Cowell has hit out at the “flooded” American TV talent show market in the wake of The X Factor USA’s demise.

Speaking exclusively to us at the Britain's Got talent auditions in London, the 54-year-old music mogul believes it would be foolish for anyone to try and bring their show to America right now.

He said: “I don’t know why any show wants to compete in America right now because it’s too flooded the market. I’m there’s going to be this year something like 14 talent shows on American TV.

“I’ve got one of them - America’s Got Talent - luckily it’s different to everybody else’s. It’s becoming like a joke.”

The comments come days after The X Factor USA was axed after just three seasons due to poor ratings.

Launched on the same year as The Voice and with the TV institution American Idol still dominating the talent show market, The X Factor USA went from averaging 12.67million viewers in its first season to just 6.2million in 2013.

Despite this, it was good news for UK viewers on Friday when Simon confirmed he’ll be returning to The X Factor this year.

We also spoke to Simon about whether his child with Lauren Silverman will have an American accent. Check out his thoughts right here:
