Selena delivered an emotional performance
Selena Gomez broke down in tears at her live show in Miami last night during an emotional tribute to her late friend Christina Grimmie.
The tragic news broke at the weekend that The Voice USA star and YouTube sensation, Christina Grimmie, had died following a shooting during a meet and greet with fans in Orlando. The 22-year was pronounced dead in a statement by Orlando Police.
The statement read: “With deep regret, we have confirmed Christina Grimmie, @TheRealGrimmie has died from her injuries”.
Following the sad news, Selena Gomez paid a touching tribute to her late friend during her Revival World Tour.
After an emotional performance of her track ‘Nobody’, Selena said “When she was 14, we met her, and my parents and I signed her. One thing about Christina and her family is that she holds her faith so closely to her and I think it’s not about religion and it’s not about… good deeds. It’s just that she had faith and I don’t really understand how this really happened, but I would like to dedicate this next song to her.”
The 23-year-old then took a seat behind her piano and gave a stunning cover performance of ‘Transfiguration’ whilst the crowd shone their phone lights in tribute.

After the news broke of Christina’s death, Selena took to her Twitter page to pay tribute to the star. Sharing a black and white snap, Selena captioned the shot with ‘My heart is absolutely broken, I miss you Christina’.
Selena’s fans were quick to show their support for star following the sad news.
Selena isn’t the only celebrity to pay tribute to the late star. Charlie Puth dedicated his hit song ‘See You Again’ to Christina during his gig in New York and also tweeted his condolences upon hearing the tragic news.
Adam Levine, Christina's coach from her time on The Voice, also expressed his heartbreak.
Police have revealed that Christina was shot by 26-year-old Kevin James Loibl, who had travelled over two hours to see the singer. Police are still unclear as to the motive behind the attack.
Following the horrific incident Selana made the decision to cancel all scheduled meet and greets with her fans during her show in Miami.
