Ryan Gosling eats cereal in tribute to meme creator who has died aged 27

Ryan McHenry loses his battle with cancer

Published 5th May 2015

In the last couple of years, Scottish filmmaker Ryan McHenry built up a huge online following thanks to his series of ‘Ryan Gosling won't eat his cereal’ memes on Vine.

Created by McHenry with the aid of a bowl a cereal and clips of Ryan Gosling films, the hilarious six-second videos saw Gosling reject a spoon of nutritious breakfast grain in a variety of different ways.

The Vines attracted millions of views and sparked many fans to create their own versions of the cereal meme.

Tragically, McHenry died after a two-year battle against bone cancer osteosarcoma aged just 27 over the weekend with Vine themselves breaking the news, writing: “Your creativity brightened many lives. Thank you. You'll be missed.”

In poignant and very fitting tribute to McHenry, Ryan Gosling took to Vine to post a video of himself pouring and FINALLY devouring a bowl of cereal.

Gosling added: “My heart goes out to all of Ryan McHenry's family and friends. Feel very lucky to have been apart of his life in some small way.”

A Ryan McHenry memorial fund has also been opened to raise money for cancer research. You can donate here.
