Actor Paul Danan, best known for his role in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, and appearing on the Celebrity edition of Love Island, has sadly died at the age of 46.
The sad news was confirmed on Thursday 16th January by Independent Creative Pr on Instagram. The statement read: 'It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of the passing of Paul Danan at just 46 years old.
'Known for his television presence, exceptional talent, and unwavering kindness, Paul was a beacon of light to so many.
'His untimely departure will leave irreplaceable voids in the lives of all who knew him.
'During this difficult time, we kindly request respect and privacy for Paul’s family, friends, and colleagues.
'No further comments will be made at this time.'
Paul played the role of Sol Patrick on Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks between 1997 and 2001, before being a contestant on the first ever series of Celebrity Love Island in 2005, and returned to the show for series two in 2006.
Paul also took part in the 2017 series of Celebrity Big Brother.
After gaining a National Lottery grant in 2023, Paul put his love for acting to good use and set up drama school especially for people struggling with addiction. The group supports anybody who has experienced trauma, serviced time in prison or struggled with mental health.

Thomas the Tank Engine creator Britt Allcroft sadly passed away at the age of 81 in January. Her death was announced by filmmaker Brannon Carty, who released at emotional statement from her beloved family.
The Vivienne
Drag Queen The Vivienne, real name James Lee Williams, sadly died at the age of 32 in January, leaving the entertainment world in shock. Publicist Simon Jones shared the sad news in a statement on social media, writing: 'It is with immense sadness that we let you know our beloved James Lee Williams – The Vivienne, has passed this weekend. James was an incredibly loved, warm-hearted, and amazing person. Their family are heartbroken at the loss of their son, brother, and uncle. They are so proud of the wonderful things James achieved in their life and career. We will not be releasing any further details. We please ask that James's family are given the time and privacy they now need to process and grieve.'
Tony Slattery
Comedian and actor Tony Slattery sadly died at the age of 65 in January, following a heart attack. A statement on behalf of his partner Mark Michael Hutchinson said: "It is with great sadness we must announce actor and comedian Tony Slattery, aged 65, has passed away today, Tuesday morning, following a heart attack on Sunday evening."
Linda Nolan
Linda Nolan, best known as one of The Nolans, sadly died aged 65 in January. The singer, who performed with sisters Anne, Denise, Maureen, Bernie and Coleen, was diagnosed with breast cancer 20 years ago and lost her battle in early 2025.
Diane Langton
English actress Diane Langton, who played the iconic role of Nana McQueen in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, sadly died at the age of 77 in January. Her agent confirmed the sad news, writing: 'I am sad to say that Diane Langton passed away this morning.'

Her hits included 'Tears Go By', which was written by The Rolling Stones' Sir Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Marianne passed away peacefully in London today, in the company of her loving family. She will be dearly missed."
