We've already seen a version of Celebrity X Factor before in 2006 when the likes of Gillian McKeith and Lucy Benjamin took to the stage to impress Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh and the nation.

But the show is now set for a revival 10 years on, after Simon Cowell announced plans to bring back the format alongside an 'All Stars' version.

And the hit ITV show has just responded to the rumours that Wes Nelson, Zara McDermott, Eyal Booker and Samira Mighty have been approached to appear on the show as a Love Island supergroup.

An X Factor spokesperson didn't confirm but also didn't deny the rumours, saying, "There is much speculation regarding the contestants for this year's series of The X Factor". Fans of the show will have to wait a few more weeks until the panel is unveiled.

The response follows Louis Walsh's revelation that he has signed on the dotted line to return to the judging panel but it's unknown whether it's for the celebrity version or the all-stars version. Nicole Scherzinger is also reportedly returning.

Louis had previously hinted of his role reprisal earlier this year, telling The Mirror, "I'm speaking to Simon, let's see".

Rumours started to swirl of the supergroup after a show insider said, "Show boss Simon Cowell has long-admired Love Island and its pulling power. So when the idea of a Love Island supergroup was raised he thought it was great.

"They're not signed yet, but the four have been discussing songs and how they'd approach the show, so it looks very likely. They're all confident that they can hold a tune."

This wouldn't be the first time both Samira and Eyal have appeared on stage. Before the hit ITV2 show, Samira was a West End performer, having appeared in shows such as Dreamgirls. Surprisingly, Eyal was also part of a pop group called EverYoung but they disbanded in 2016.

It's unclear whether Wes and Zara will be able to hold a note but one thing is for sure, we'll be tuning in!
