Is Louis Tomlinson lookalike lying about his X Factor sob story?

Claims have been made that he made up his story

X Factor hopeful and Louis Tomlinson lookalike Matt Terry broke viewers’ hearts with his sob story when he first appeared on the show, but now it has been revealed it may have been one big lie.

When Matt first auditioned for the show, the singer told Simon Cowell that he had recently been dumped by his long-term girlfriend just before he went on the show. Holding back the tears he said, “I was a waiter but I unfortunately had to leave my job because I’ve recently come out of a relationship with my girlfriend.”

When Simon then asked Matt if he has been dumped, the 23-year-old added, "Yeah… music is my passion and it would be a dream come true to make it through. It’s why I’m here."

After sailing through his audition and then making it all the way to Nicole’s Judges Houses in the South of France, things seemed to be looking up for Matt, especially when Nicole chose him as one of her three finalists.

However, now it has emerged that the singer may have been lying about his split in order to receive more attention and have a ‘sob story’ that the show has become famous for.

Showbiz reporter Dan Wootten appeared on a recent episode of Lorraine and said, “You know how he keeps going on about his sob story of the girlfriend, well, I can reveal it’s all a bit of a porkie pie. He’s back living with the girl Jasmin Avis. So it’s served him very well. But all I would say is Matt, you know what, you have enough talent to get through without that!"

Despite the claims, Matt has now fired back and defended himself. He said, "My ex and I split amicably and are still friends but we’re not in a relationship."

Matt is set to join the eleven other contestants for the first live show of the series on Saturday 8th October.
