The BRIT Awards pay touching tribute to Liam Payne

The BRIT Awards 2025 with Mastercard took place at London's O2 Arena tonight (Saturday 1st March), with artists such as Charli xcx, Sabrina Carpenter and Dua Lipa all being celebrated for their success over the last 12 months.
But amongst the glitz and glamour of the event, the venue fell silent as BRITs bosses paid a touching tribute to former One Direction singer Liam Payne, who sadly passed away at the age of 31 in October last year.
Host Jack Whitehall remembered Liam with a lovely speech, before a montage video of Liam's amazing career and life memories played on the big screen, leaving friends in the audience and fans at home in tears.

Despite rumours earlier this year that Liam's former 1D band mates Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson were set to reunite for a special performance at the event, the boys reportedly chose to turn down the invite.

News of Liam's shock passing first emerged late on 16th October 2024, after he fell from his balcony into the courtyard of the Casa Sur Hotel in the Palermo neighbourhood of Argentina's capital.
After months of police investigations, it was announced the end of December that five people had been charged in connection with his death, including the hotel's manager, a receptionist, and a friend of Liam.
Liam's medical cause of death has now been confirmed in a UK inquest as polytrauma, with his funeral taking place at St Mary's Church in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, on 20th November 2024. Liam's family and closest friends were in attendance, including his former girlfriend Cheryl, who is the mother of his beloved son Bear, all of his One Direction band mates, music mogul Simon Cowell, and his girlfriend Kate Cassidy.
Since his passing, fans of the 'Strip That Down' singer have held vigils across the world, admitting they will always remember Liam and the positive impact he had on them.
