Kristen Stewart: ‘Hollywood is disgustingly sexist’
She says fame is the worst thing in the world
Kristen Stewart has spoken out about the film industry’s treatment of women.
In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the Twilight actress claims that females are downgraded next to their male counterparts.
She said: “Women inevitably have to work a little bit harder to be heard. Hollywood is disgustingly sexist. It’s crazy. It’s so offensive it’s crazy.”
Stewart also spoke about her about dislike for sex scenes, adding: “I only hate them when they’re contrived. That’s when it’s grotesquely uncomfortable.
“On ‘Twilight’ we had to do the most epic sex scene of all time. It had to be transcendent and other worldly, inhuman, better sex than you can possibly ever imagine.
“We were like, ‘How do we live up to that?’ It was agony. Which sucks because I wanted it be so good.”
She continued: “I just even question when fairly established actress finally does a scene on a movie when she shows her boobs and she hasn’t done it up until this moment.”
“And maybe she only did it for the prestigious part and it’s okay for this time because it’s classy, and I’m like, ‘Oh God, thank you for revealing to the world your treasure’.”
The actress also spoke of her dislike of fame, labelling it as “the worst thing in the world”.
Last year Stewart claimed she would take some time off acting to “make stuff with her hands”. Since then, she has signed up for a new Woody Allen film and will appear in historical drama ‘The Great Getaway’ alongside Brendon Gleeson.
