This was unexpected

She's a pop star the world over, but 'Dark Horse' singer, Katy Perry has revealed plans to step back from music now that she's finished 'Witness: The Tour'. Katy, who has had huge songs such as 'I Kissed a Girl', 'California Gurls' and 'Chained to the Rhythm', has explained in an interview that she has been on the road for 10 years, so she's "just going to chill".
Speaking to Footwear News, Katy explained, "I’m not going to go straight into making another record. I feel like I’ve done a lot. I feel like I’ve rung the bell of being a pop star very loudly, and I’m very grateful for that."
So, while it might be a bit of bad news for Katy's fans, it's not the end of her music necessarily, with the pop star admitting, "I love making music, I love writing, but I don’t feel like I’m a part of a game anymore. I just feel like I’m an artist. I don’t feel like I have to prove anything, which is a freeing feeling."
Following the news, one fan commented on Twitter, 'UGH so sad! i hope she finds her sweetener while taking her well deserved break!', with another saying, 'This is so sad. I can't'.
Katy Perry joined us to perform some amazing acoustic versions of her songs. Take a look at her amazing performances in the videos below.

'Witness: The Tour' is Katy's fourth in nine years and has seen her travel across the globe performing her songs for her fans. Her most recent tour ended in August this year and the 33-year-old pop star decided to mark the end of her tour with an 'out of this world' tattoo.
In a post on Instagram she revealed she already has three tattoos, 'A Strawberry, a peppermint, and a prism triangle', asking her fans what she should have as a fourth. Then, just a couple of days later, Katy showed off the very detailed planetary tattoo, explaining to her fans the intricate design.
The last song that Katy Perry, real name Katheryn Hudson, released was 'Swish Swish', a collaboration with Nicki Minaj which was a Top 20 hit in the UK, but it was back in 2008 that she released 'I Kissed A Girl', revealing earlier this year that she would re-write the lyrics if she released it now.

The song sold over 4.7 million digital copies and spent several weeks at the top of the charts. However, it has been criticised in the past by the LGBTQ community for 'trivialising bisexuality and gender stereotypes'.
Katy admitted in an interview, "If I had to write that song again, I probably would make an edit on it. Lyrically, it has a couple of stereotypes in it. Your mind changes so much in 10 years, and you grow so much. What's true for you can evolve."
Now take a look at songs that turned 10 this year:
Beyoncé: 'Single Ladies'
'Single Ladies' is undoubtedly one of the catchiest pop tunes of the last decade! Who can forget that famous dance?!
Katy Perry: 'I Kissed A Girl'
Katy Perry announced herself into the music charts when she dropped 'I Kissed A Girl' in 2008. Being the lead single from her debut album 'One Of The Boys', Katy revealed the song was about 'the magical beauty of a woman'.
Taylor Swift: 'Love Story'
These days Taylor releases massive pop tunes such as 'Blank Space' and 'Look What You Made Me Do', but back in 2008 the singer's country roots gave her major success, including this amazing single 'Love Story'.

Adele: 'Chasing Pavements'
Before the days of 'Hello' and 'Rolling In The Deep', a young Adele showed off her incredible vocals to the world in her track 'Chasing Pavements'. What a classic!
Jonas Brothers: 'Burnin' Up'
Before they went their separate ways, the Jonas Brothers had major success as a group. We still know the words to this classic from Kevin, Nick and Joe 12 years later!
Britney Spears: 'Womanizer'
Britney Spears continued to release amazing pop tunes and 2008 was no exception when she dropped 'Womanizer' for her fans.

Kings Of Leon's 'Sex On Fire' was one of the biggest songs of the year back in 2008, and with its catchy lyrics it's still a firm favourite today.
P!nk: 'So What'
P!nk dropped her amazing track 'So What' in 2008 from her album 'Funhouse' and the video certainly lived up to expectations!
Duffy: 'Mercy'
All together now... "I'm begging you for Mercy..." The catchy track was taken off Duffy's 2008 best selling album 'Rockferry'.
Girls Aloud: 'The Promise'
This catchy pop tune became Girls Aloud's fourth Number 1 and it also bagged them their first ever BRIT Award when it picked up 'Best British Single' in 2009.

Teaming up with amazing producer Stargate, Ne-Yo's track 'Miss Independent' had all the ingredients to be a lasting pop hit!
As well being a successful pop star, Katy Perry has been a judge on American Idol where she found herself falling over on the show! As the contestant Michelle Sussett encouraged the panel of judges to come and join her, she was first joined by Lionel Richie.
However, Katy didn't seem too embarrassed by what happened and 'styled' her way out of the moment. Check out the moment below!
