Kanye West's trainers set to sell for a record-breaking $1 million

Here's hoping that's not price-per-shoe...

Kanye West's first ever own-brand trainer is set to go to auction, with London auction house Sotheby's aiming to flog the shoes for a record breaking $1 million. For that hefty price tag, the shoes, which were Kanye's Yeezy prototype in collaboration with Nike, will become the most expensive trainers ever sold - knocking Michael Jordan's 1985 Air Jordan 1 off the top spot.

The lucky size-12 shoe wearer will stand proud in a pair of Nike Air Yeezy 1s, which were the first of their kind in Kanye's brief collaboration with Nike. The Yeezy range has since gone on to catapult Kanye into billionaire territory. In a post shared by the auction house, they describe the shoes as 'iconic', stating they 'paved the way for many of the artist collaborations of today'.

The Nike-made shoes, which the 43-year-old rapper rocked during the 50th Grammy Awards in 2008, are on offer via private sale from 'renowned' sneaker collector Ryan Chang.

If the trainers sell for their target price of $1 million, they will beat Michael Jordan's 1985 Air Jordan 1 off the top spot for most expensive trainer ever sold, with the aforementioned selling for a whopping £408,000 last year - bargain!

Fans went crazy for the shoe once he donned them at the award show, but due to the Yeezy project being top secret they had to go back to Nike’s 'Innovation Kitchen' lab in Oregon. Thankfully, they were launched the next year, however by 2013, Kanye ditched Nike and switched to Adidas - who he still works with to this day.

Since the prototype, Kanye has proceeded to built a some-what footwear empire, which is now valued at around £3.4 billion.

Can you guess the celebs from their yearbook photos?
