Gareth Gates has proven that timing is everything, as he infuriated Coronation Street fans last night (20th March) revealing a character's death before it had happened on-screen. Viewers were at the edge of their seats, as it had been revealed that a major character would pass away as the factory roof collapsed.

Unfortunately, for those who follow Gareth on Instagram, the jig was up sooner than they anticipated, with the 34-year-old taking to Instagram during the ad break to congratulate his fiancée Faye Brooks on her performance...and also reveal "It's such a shame to lose Bhavna". The pair then joined together to express a pet-lip. Way to go, Gareth.

The post reportedly went up at 8.42pm, during the ad break, with Bhavna Limbachia's character Rana Habeeb passing away just before 9pm.

Captioning the post, the Pop Idol star wrote, 'So proud of my lady @faye_brookes in @coronationstreet - such amazing TRUE acting. Sad to lose the beautiful and incredibly talented @bhavnalimbachia' sic.

Fans reacted immediately, with one writing, 'You have just ruined it!!!' sic, another writing, 'Noooooo haven't watched it yet 😥' sic and another saying, 'Spoil sport she’s still alive yet @gareth_gates' sic.

One fan even added, 'Oh Gareth, you are gonna get some stick for this!!!! 🙄' sic.

Oh Gareth...🙈
