Ellie Goulding takes break from music and announces split from Dougie Poynter
The star has confirmed she will take a break from music
Ellie Goulding has confirmed she has split with boyfriend of two years, Dougie Poynter, as well as announcing she is set to take a hiatus from music.
After months of speculation regarding a split, the ‘On My Mind’ singer has finally confirmed the pair are over.
In a recent newspaper interview Ellie opened up saying “People think I’m invincible but these past few weeks have been tough. I’m not in a relationship anymore and that’s been hard. Having a break will be a good thing for me and my head.’
The pair have been on and off for two years and previously split last December, before rekindling their romance at the beginning of the year with Ellie teasing fans of a potential wedding after posting a video of herself in a stunning white gown.
Despite the split, the 29-year-old called Dougie “One of the most special people in the world” and has previously spoken about marriage and kids with the McBusted star, but their hectic schedules meant the relationship had to come to an end.
Just last year Ellie spoke to You magazine about the struggles of a long distance relationship saying “We want to get married and we do want to have children but I think realistically it won’t happen for a while. Next year I’m on tour and I don’t want it to be something we fit in.”

Ellie has also revealed her plans to take a hiatus from music when her current tour comes to an end, adding that she won’t be releasing any new material for at least a year saying “My plan is to have a month off in August and do more of my charity stuff and then next year I need to live a bit.”
Dougie is currently in LA working on his acting career whilst Ellie is touring the UK with dates still to play in London, Sheffield and Manchester.
