The final of Britain's Got Talent took place on Sunday night, when comedian Lost Voice Guy was crowned the winner of the show after impressing with his hilarious jokes. And after hosting the live shows without his on-screen partner Ant McPartlin for the first time in history, Dec Donnelly has now thanked fans for their support.
Despite expressing his nerves at the start of the week, the 42-year-old was praised by fans throughout the live shows for his professionalism. Taking to Twitter to thank fans in the only way he could, Dec wrote, 'There are some days when only a bacon sandwich will do 🥓Thanks again for all the nice messages, hugely appreciated. What a week!' sic
The presenter went on to congratulate fellow Geordie, Lost Voice Guy, calling him a 'worthy winner' of the show. He added, 'Well done to all the acts and huge congrats @LostVoiceGuy, a worthy winner.' Clearly glad the nerve-racking presenting gig was over, Dec then finished his message with, 'Annnnd breeeeeeaaaaathe! D'. sic
After posting his message out on Twitter, fans of the presenter were quick to praise Dec even further, with many admitting they think he done a 'brilliant' job.
Dec's message comes after Simon Cowell publicly praised him on stage during the final on Sunday night.
Leaving viewers emotional with his heartfelt speech, Simon grabbed Dec's microphone and said, "I want to say to you Dec, you have done an outstanding job this week. Seriously, thank you," as Alesha Dixon grabbed him for a hug.
Fans are hoping Dec will continue to present on his own until Ant McPartlin is fit enough to return to his TV duties. With the new series of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here expected to return in November, Dec could be back on our TV screens hosting the show. However, nothing has yet been confirmed by ITV.
Meanwhile, it is a very exciting time for Dec and his wife Ali Astall. The couple announced they are expecting their first child later this year.
Sharing the lovely news in March, Dec wrote on Instagram, 'Just wanted to say thank you for all the lovely messages. The news has sneaked out a little earlier than we had hoped but Ali and I are delighted to be expecting our first child. Thanks for all the love, we really appreciate it ❤️ D x' sic
