Coronation Street actor Mikey North and his wife Rachael have revealed they are expecting their first child together, a baby boy.

Mikey, who plays Gary Windass in the popular soap, has expressed his excitement at becoming a dad for the first time and explained he was ‘amazed’ when he discovered the news.

Speaking to a magazine, the 30-year-old said, “I was amazed. It's such a big miracle to happen in the first place. You find out and realise that your life is going to change forever."

Explaining she was convinced she was pregnant, Mikey’s wife Rachael added, “I was doing tests for a week before because I was convinced I was pregnant, but they kept saying negative. But I just felt different."

Despite the news, the actor revealed he was very emotional but managed to hold his tears back.

Their happy news comes as the pair married back in January and according to Mikey, he thinks the couple conceived the baby on their wedding night. He said, “Judging by the date that the baby’s due, we think we conceived on our wedding night! Which I do remember, just about!”

After finding out the news they were having a baby boy, the couple admitted they had guessed all along, with Rachael adding she always thought she would have two boys.
