Bake off winner Nadiya reveals she almost quit before it began
It wouldn't have been the same without her
Imagine what this year’s Great British Bake Off would have been like without star baker and winner - Nadiya Jamir Hussain.
Well, the Leeds mum of three has revealed that she almost backed out before it even began!
Speaking to Hello! magazine, she said “before I did Bake Off I did wonder if, after 10 years of being at home, I was work ready. When I was called for the final 12 I nearly rang to tell them I couldn't do it.”
Nadiya’s been a memorable contestant – for her facial expressions, quotes and ‘hottie’ husband.
It was a tense final, with the 30-year-old baking a patriotic wedding cake, as she didn't have one when she married husband Abdal in Bangladesh. It even had with jewels from her own wedding day.
She beat Ian Cumming, who let the pressure get to him and forgot to add sugar to the dough of his spiced buns and Tamal Ray whose iced buns failed to set in time.
An average audience of 13.4m people tuned in to watch Nadiya be crowned the Great British Bake Off winner, making it the most watch tv show this year.
