The New Year has got off to a stunning start with celebrities from TV, film and music, attending the prestigious 76th Golden Globes awards ceremony last night, in Beverly Hills. It was a great night for British actors including Olivia Colman, who picked up the Best Actress in a Comedy Award for her role in the film The Favourite, with Bodyguard's Richard Madden winning an award for his role in the hit TV show.

On the night, Bohemian Rhapsody and Rami Malek were also surprise winners of some major categories, with the film taking home Best Motion Picture - Drama, and the star actor who plays Freddie Mercury, winning Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama.

Actress Sandra Oh also became the first Asian woman to win the Best Actress TV Drama Golden Globe in almost 40 years.

Despite pop star Lady Gaga missing out on the Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama, for her role in A Star Is Born, she did pick up the award for Best Original Song, telling fans on Twitter, 'I am so beyond grateful for this Golden Globe & honored to have won it'.
