Church House, Bridgeton
Church House is a community group which works with families in the lowest 10% of the SIMD figures from Bridgeton and surrounding areas. Staff and volunteers work alongside the community members to build positive relationships and support them to recognise their abilities as they develop and grow, providing opportunities and a safe space to challenge issues they may face.
Church House works with low-income families and single parents, many of whom are working and struggling to make ends meet on a weekly basis. They are open 7 days a week and provide groups and activities like arts and crafts, baking, team sports, and issue-based workshops to encourage community and connection. They also run parent and toddler groups as well as opportunities which these young people may not usually get to experience, such as outdoor activity sessions e.g. sailing, wakeboarding etc.
Grants allow Church House to purchase vouchers to give to families which can be spent on essentials such as food vouchers, school uniforms, and electricity/gas top ups.
