Woman who died after A71 crash named locally
27 year old Alana Muir from Darvel died after the collision on Thursday
The woman who died after a crash on the A71 near Darvel yesterday has been named locally as 27 year old Alana Muir from Darvel.
The incident happened on Thursday October 17, at around 11.05am and involved a red Ford Focus Zetec and a silver Mercedes Vito.
The Railway Inn in Darvel said they were "completely shocked and heartbroken" by the news.
In a statement to social media, they added: "This girl was the life and soul of any party. She was a beautiful young girl, adored by us as her colleagues & our customers. She had a true heart and helped anyone who needed it. Her infectious smile and huge personality will be sorely missed.
"Alana, you really were 1 in a million.
"We send our heartfelt condolences to her family & friends."
Their feelings were shared by the Darvel Bowling Club, who said "yesterday we lost a friend".
They added in a statement to social media: "Our committee & members are devastated at the loss of our barmaid and friend Alana Muir.
Alana was always eager to help and with her huge personality made such an impact within our club to both members and visitors. We shall sorely miss her cheery, smiling face and the brightness she brought with her.
We would also like to pass our deepest condolences to her family & friends although words just don’t seem enough."
