A77 Monkton crash claims another victim with death of pensioner

A woman who has been in hospital with injuries suffered in a Monkton car crash has died.

The 84-year-old woman was a passenger in a Renault Captur that collided with a silver Mercedes on the A77 on Thursday, October 3rd.

Emergency services rushed to the mid-afternoon scene just a half-mile south of the Dutch House Roundabout.

The woman and the driver, an 82-year-old man, were taken to hospital.

The driver passed away on Sunday, October 6th.

Now, police are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the crash.

Sergeant Martin Cunningham of Irvine Road Policing said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the two people who died at this very difficult time.

“Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are appealing to anyone who has not already spoken to officers to get in touch if you can assist.

“If you were driving in the area and have dash-cam footage that could help with our investigation then please contact us."

Anyone who can help is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2036 of 3 October 2024.
