THERE’S a major alert that many parts of Scotland could be hit by thunderstorms on Monday.

The Met Office having issued a weather warning effectively covering the whole of the country

The yellow thunderstorm warning will be in place from 2am tomorrow until 1pm, with the potential for frequent lightning, heavy rain, hail and bursts of strong winds.

Forecasters have warned that the stormy weather could cause some damage and disruption to infrastructure

Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures, while there is a small chance that some communities could be cut off by flooded roads, the Met Office cautioned.

There is also a risk of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services, and a small chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses may be lost.
