Trial date set for bus driver murder case
Man charged with murder and death by dangerous driving
A MAN is to stand trial charged with the murder of a bus driver.
David Livingstone, 43, is accused of killing Gordon Stirling and injuring two passengers following a collision on the A77 near Fenwick, Ayrshire on August 14, 2023.
Livingstone is said to have been behind the wheel of a Ford Transit van at the time.
It is claimed he intentionally went onto the opposite side of the road towards the Stagecoach bus driven by Mr Stirling and caused a crash.
The 23 year-old, of Crosshouse, also Ayrshire, is said to have been left so severely hurt that he passed away.
A man and a woman on the bus were also injured.
Livingstone faces an alternative charge to the murder allegation in that he caused the death by dangerous driving.
The case called for a short hearing at the High Court in Glasgow today/yesterday.
Ian Duguid KC, defending, said: "He pleads not guilty to the indictment.
"The estimation for trial is seven days, but it may not take as long."
Prosecutor Mark Mohammed KC stated the Crown were also prepared for a trial to be set.
Lord Armstrong went on to fix a date with it due to begin in September 2025 in Glasgow.
