Families across Scotland welcome New Year's babies
Scotland's first baby of 2025 arrived at 00:41 on New Year's Day
Families across Scotland are starting off 2025 with some very special arrivals, as they welcome New Year’s babies.
Perhaps Scotland’s first newborn was baby Alexander James Glover, who was born to mum Katia in Edinburgh at 00:41 on January 1 2025.
Alexander’s dad Jonny is working abroad, and Katia says she cannot wait for them to meet.
She said: “We are over the moon with the arrival of our baby boy!
"He came a little early, which was a lovely surprise.
"We are over the moon"
“Jonny is still away working abroad, but we can’t wait for him to meet his son."
Baby Alexander weighed in at 2.35kg.
He was soon followed two babies at NHS Tayside, who were born at 1.16am, and shortly afterwards at 1.38am.
Next up came baby Gabriel at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital, who was born to Charlotte and Charlie Anthony at 1.47am on New Year’s Day.
Gabriel weighed 9lb 4oz, and his mum says she is “ecstatic” since his due date was on December 20 2024.
"The midwives were excellent"
Charlotte said his arrival had made the start of 2025 even more special, adding: “the midwives were excellent, so patient”.
Baby Gabriel joins his big brother Charlie, who is 13.
Finally, baby David Lomond Heath was born at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital at 2.10am to Erin and Lewis Heath.
He weighed 3.9kg, and also has a big brother, Russell.
