Hearts raring to go against Rangers after crushing Motherwell at Tynecastle

Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson said his players were already looking forward to Wednesday's Ladbrokes Premiership visit of Rangers after they overwhelmed Motherwell.

The Edinburgh outfit encountered little resistance in Saturday's 3-0 win at Tynecastle as a Bjorn Johnsen double and Jamie Walker strike sealed Hearts' first win in five games.

Hearts will move back up to second on goal difference if they beat Mark Warburton's side, who occupy that position now, and Neilson said his players are brimming with confidence ahead of the clash.

He said: It's huge for us, it's a massive game and a great game to be involved in - it's a while since they've been there.

We've had good results previously against them here in recent times and it's a great game to be involved in.

The players are already looking at the Rangers game, it brings that excitement to go and perform and get a result.''

Johnsen shone for Hearts with his double either side of the break, while the American also had one disallowed over a contentious offside decision.

The towering forward now has four for the season and Neilson believes there is still more to come from the 25-year-old.

He added: Bjorn is a good player, it's taken him a wee while to get used to the way Scottish football is.He came from Bulgaria and he hadn't really played since January.

It was important we gave him time. I think he showed that he has real quality. He's been playing well the last couple of games he's been involved.

I think you can see he is a handful. His fitness levels aren't where they could be, he's still got a bit to go.'' Johnsen opened the scoring after 31 minutes when he latched on to Arnaud Djoum's pass before rounding goalkeeper Craig Samson to find the net.

The former Litex Lovech marksman added a second in the 49th minute when he headed in Robbie Muirhead's corner before Walker added a third with a close-range finish in the 66th minute.

Motherwell manager Mark McGhee conceded Hearts were worthy winners, despite his team having four efforts cleared off the line.

McGhee said: We were overpowered and I thought Hearts were excellent, they played against our shape and made it difficult.

They worked really hard, passed the ball a lot better than us and took their chances. We were beaten by the better team.

Hearts were determined at defending and cleared them off the line, we made some chances but didn't take them - credit to them.

We know we can lose and we know we can win, so we go from game to game and that's what we'll do against Celtic next week.''
