Ross County manager Derek Adams was relieved that his side did enough to avoid another League Cup shock at Stranraer. Stranraer eyed a repeat of their 3-2 win in last season's second round when Sean Winter scored early on, but goals from Melvin de Leeuw and Liam Boyceearned the Staggies a 2-1 victory. Adams said: Stranraer were excellent and played well given they had nothing to lose as the underdogs, and I'm delighted to have seen them off.Stranraer is a very tough venue to come to. The important thing was to get to the next round and it was good to see two of my strikers getting goals too.'' Home boss Stephen Aitken said: I'm extremely proud of the efforts of my players. They gave everything they had and have run a Premiership team very close.Especially as the game went on, I felt that if either side was going to go on and win then it would be ourselves, but sometimes good teams can catch you on the break and that's what happened tonight. What I've seen from my players this evening gives me great encouragement for the league programme that lies ahead.''
