British Transport Police officers are appealing for information following an assault on two women on board a train service between Kilmarnock and Glasgow Central station.

The incident happened on Saturday, 18 June at 12.30am.

Investigating officer DC John McPhilemy said: “The two passengers both sustained injuries to their face, fingers and ribs, from an attack that appears to be entirely unprovoked. The service was very busy with a number of returning passengers who had earlier attended the Rod Stewart concert in Kilmarnock.

“BTP takes all offences on the rail network extremely seriously, and I would appeal to any passenger who may have witnessed or recorded this incident to come forward and contact us.”
