Woman dies in Grangemouth flat fire
Fire crews rescued the woman from the blaze in a flat on Marshall Street in Grangemouth this morning, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
A woman has died following a flat fire in Marshall Street in Grangemouth this morning.
The incident happened at around 7.20am on Sunday at a flat in Marshall Street, Grangemouth.
Fire appliances from Falkirk and Bo'ness attended the scene and put out the fire, which was located in the living room.
A woman was rescued from the property but was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: Scottish Fire and Rescue Service crews were called to attend a flat fire in Grangemouth earlier this morning.
Edinburgh control received a call at 7.39am reporting smoke at a block of flats in Marshall Street, Grangemouth.
Fire appliances from Falkirk and Bo'ness attended the fire.
Crews in breathing apparatus used two hose-reel jets to put out the fire that was located in the living room.
One female casualty was rescued from the property but sadly she died at the scene. Our thoughts are with her family and friends.
A joint investigation between the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Police Scotland in the case of the fire will take place in due course.''
A Police Scotland spokesman said: Emergency services responded to an address in Marshall Street, Grangemouth, at around 7.20am on Sunday September 18 following a report of a fire.
The occupant was removed from the property but was pronounced dead at the scene.
A joint investigation between Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is under way to establish the full circumstances surrounding this fire.''
