Travellers facing eviction from council-owned land on the outskirts of Bearsden say they are fed-up with "being hounded from pillar to post."

The group of 40 people in 9 caravans who have set-up home at the former Garscadden depot near Peel Glen Road say there is no official site to go to.

They say the site at Lennoxtown is no longer available and another site in Stirling is full.

East Dunbartonshire Council's Director of Neighbourhood Services, Grace Irvine told us:: “While we are sympathetic, the position is that there was very low demand for the Lennoxtown site. "A great deal of money would be needed to bring the site back up to an acceptable standard. "There is no absolute legal obligation on local authorities to provide travellers with a site and many Councils in Scotland don’t have one.

"The Council will continue to keep this position under consideration but in the meantime the case will call at Court tomorrow."
