Two Taken To Hospital After ‘Vicious’ Attack

Police are hunting a group of young men who carried out a "vicious attack" on two people outside a pub.

Two men, aged 30 and 32, suffered head injuries in the attack opposite The Dubliner and Sportsman pubs in Glasgow Road, Rutherglen, at around 2.15pm yesterday.

The pair were taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital but were later transferred to Glasgow Royal Hospital for treatment to injuries to their head and body before they were released.

Police said the attackers were a group of men aged between 17 and 25.

Detective Constable Euan Wallace said: "We are trying to establish a motive for this vicious attack and obviously trying to identify those involved.

"Glasgow Road, Rutherglen was extremely busy with both vehicles and pedestrians at this time of day and I urge anyone who witnessed this incident and has not already spoken to police to contact us immediately.''
