Kevin Wilson was found by police with a gunshot wound to the back after they were called to the junction of Smithdown Road and Holmes Street in Wavertree, Liverpool, at around 8.30pm on Saturday.
Officers performed CPR on the teenager, who is originally from Viewpark, Lanarkshire, but he was pronounced dead in hospital.
Police believe it was a targeted attack.
Two men, aged 54 and 37, and a 37-year-old woman - all from Liverpool - were arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder.
A spokeswoman for Merseyside Police said: The 54-year-old is from Toxteth and the other two are from the Kensington area. All three remain in police custody at the present time.''
A 30-year-old Liverpool man was also arrested yesterday on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice and theft.
