Published 16th Sep 2015

Three schools in East Renfrewshire were evacuated today after a number of "bomb threat" phone calls were made to the schools.

The calls were made at some point this morning, but Police are not able to confirm the times.

As a results, emergency services were sent to St Luke's High School, Barrhead High School and St Mark's Primary School.

Pupils were then evacuated while staff and police officers searched the buildings.

A fourth school, St Ninians High School, was also searched as a response to the calls, but a decision was made to not evacuate the building.

No suspicious items were discovered as part of the searches, and all pupils have now returned to classes.

Police say enquiries are continuing, but the incident is being treated as "malicious calls".
