A study has claimed parents today are more over-protective of their children compared to previous generations.

The research by Sudocrem shows the number of children allowed outside to play has been dramatically decreasing over the last four decades.

In Glasgow, 74% of mums and dads said in the survey they played outside more than their own children do.

It also revealed nearly 1 in 10 children in Glasgow don't spend anytime playing outside at all.

The overall picture in Scotland shows two thirds of kids only spend between 1 and 5 hours playing outside a week.

Things like technology and safety concerns have been highlighted as possible reasons behind the decrease.
