Shopkeeper Injured In Knifepoint Robbery

A shopkeeper suffered cuts to his hands and leg after a knifepoint robbery in Rutherglen.

The 42 year old targeted in his News Direct store in Hamilton Road at around 2005 hours on Tuesday 14 July 2015.

A man entered the shop and assaulted his victim before running off with a three figure sum of cash towards Wardlaw Drive.

The shop keeper was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was treated for lacerations and later released after treatment.

He is said to have been left extremely distressed by the robbery.

The suspect is described as white, 6ft in height and of slim build with short brown hair.

He was wearing dark grey trousers, a grey hooded top and white trainers.

Detective Constable Stuart Burnside of Cambuslang Police Office said today:

“We are currently carrying out enquiries into this incident and gathering CCTV in an effort to gain further information on this incident and the man responsible.

“At this time I would urge anyone who was in the area of Hamilton Road around the time of the incident last night who may have witnessed something suspicious, or who may have information that will assist the police investigation.
