Glasgow marketing bosses launch online wonderwall as figures show tourist boom continues

Published 13th May 2015

The people of Glasgow are being encouraged to support the city’s latest marketing drive to attract international visitors by sharing their stories, pictures and videos on a new digital ‘wonder wall’, which will showcase all the things that make Glasgow great. Glasgow City Marketing Bureau celebrates its 10th birthday it's looking to continue the global conversation it began two years ago when contributions from more than 1,500 people in 42 countries poured in to help shape the city's PEOPLE MAKE GLASGOW brand.

The city has seen growth in visitor numbers for the last 15 months.

The new ‘wonder wall’ will update in real-time as new content is added, providing an insider’s guide to Glasgow for visitors planning a trip to the city.

Launching it in George Square Councillor Gordon Matheson, Leader of Glasgow City Council and Chair of the GCMB said: “As tourists we all wonder what we’ll discover when visiting somewhere new and with the average city break only three days it can be difficult planning and fitting in everything that we would like to see and do.

“Whether you’re a first time visitor or already have a love-affair with Glasgow, our new digital wonder wall will always have something new to inspire you and will help you to make the most of your time in the city.

“It’s a compilation of stories, pictures, videos, recommendations, tips and local advice which shines the spotlight on everything that’s great about Glasgow, from must-visit attractions to unique hidden gems, and the best thing about it is that it has been created by people who really know and love this city.”

Having been at the heart of the city’s summer party during last year’s Commonwealth Games, the PEOPLE MAKE GLASGOW brand has been widely endorsed by Glaswegians, visitors, the media, industry and Scotland’s creative sector since its launch in June 2013.
