Several Injured After Bus Crash
Several people have been injured after an empty double-decker school bus ran into the back of a double-decker service bus in a Scottish city centre. Fire engines, ambulances and police were scrambled to the collision from a wide area. The accident took place on Melville Terrace, Stirling, around half past twelve in the afternoon. Firemen removed two passengers from the service bus through a side window emergency exit, and several passengers were taken to hospital by ambulance. A heavy recovery vehicle from Alloa was also called to the scene and police temporarily closed off the road while fire fighters dealt with spilled diesel. The incident involved two double-decker vehicles - one belonging to First Bus, and the other to Davies Coaches of Plean, Stirlingshire. A witness said: "I got there soon afterwards, and it was a scene of chaos. Passengers from the service bus were standing round wrapped in white blankets, provided by the ambulance crews. "It looked as though the Davies Coaches school bus was more or less embedded in the back of the First Bus vehicle.'' "The Davies Coaches driver must have taken quite a knock, as there was obvious damage to the driver's cab." Another witness, from an architects' business near the scene, said: "There was a very a loud bang."
