Pasenger killed and two others injured as cars collide
A man has died after a road crash near a Lanarkshire village.
The 22-year-old victim was a passenger in a Toyota Aygo which was in a collision with a Vauxhall Zafira near Dolphinton at around 4.30pm on Saturday.
The driver and the other passenger of the Toyota car were taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
The driver and passenger of the Vauxhall did not require medical treatment.
At the time of the crash, the Toyota was travelling south on the A702 approaching the junction with the A721, while the Vauxhall was emerging on to the A702 from the A721, known as Melbourne Crossroads.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them on 101.
