A driver contacted police in the early hours to say they had seen someone landing in North Hanover Street.
Officers are checking CCTV from the area to establish what happened.
A police spokeswoman said: "Around 12.30am on Thursday February 18, police received a report of a parachute landing in North Hanover Street, Glasgow.
"Inquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances.''
