Man seriously injured following attack in Possilpark

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision

Detectives are appealing for information after a man was seriously assaulted in the Possilpark area of Glasgow on Friday night.

The 36-year-old left a licensed premises on Saracen Street at around 9.20pm and was walking down the street when he became involved in an altercation with a groupd of young men.

The man was struck to the head which left him with serious injuries. He was taken by ambulance to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he was released following treatment.

Police say Up to four men are thought to have been involved in the attack, who were part of a larger group who were present of Saracen Street.

The men are described as white, and of average height and build. At the time of the attack the men were wearing tracksuits.

Detective Constable Alan McIntosh from Maryhill CID is leading the enquiry.

He said today: 'A man has been left with a very serious head injury as a result of this attack and enquiries are at an early stage to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. I would like to speak to anyone with information about this incident. Saracen Street was busy at this time and I am confident that people in the community will have seen or heard a disturbance.
