A man is to stand trial later this year charged with the murder of a dad.

Ryan McMillan (31) is accused of killing Stephen Scroggie at a house in Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire in March last year.

The allegation includes claims Mr Scroggie (39) was struck on the head, neck and body with a knife.

He is also said to have been punched, kicked as well as being hit “by means to the prosecutor unknown”.

McMillan, of Kilsyth, North Lanarkshire, denied the charge during a short hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.

Judge Lady Scott set a trial due to begin in October.
