Hunt for men who set fire to Train seat

At around 7.15pm on 21st June, two young men were travelling on the Troon to Glasgow Central Station service. Witnesses reported seeing one of the men setting fire to newspapers in the second coach. They then both left the area.

British Transport Police officers are appealing for information following an incident in which two young people are believed to have set fire to a seat on a train.

At around 7.15pm on 21st June, two young men were travelling on the Troon to Glasgow Central Station service. Witnesses reported seeing one of the men setting fire to newspapers in the second coach. They then both left the area.

The fire consumed part of a seat and the surrounding floor area.

A member of the public got up and stamped out the fire, before returning to his seat.

Officers would like to speak to this man, and anyone else who witnessed the incident.

The offender was white and was wearing a white and blue Adidas tracksuit top and a navy blue baseball cap. He was carrying a football.
