Firefighters rescue lorry driver on motorway
The heavy goods vehicle was lying on its side on the M8 in Glasgow's east end
Firefighters rescued a man from a lorry after it overturned on a motorway in Glasgow.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the driver from the cabin of the heavy goods vehicle.
The incident happened shortly before 5:55am on the M8 at Junction 8 Baillieston.
Around 15 firefighters were involved the operation to release the driver from the truck, which was lying on its side.
The response included an appliance from Bellshill Community Fire Station as well as an appliance and the specialist heavy rescue vehicle from Easterhouse.
As the firefighters worked to cut the driver free paramedics assessed his condition and he was taken to Monklands Hospital by ambulance after being safely released.
SFRS crews made the scene safe before leaving around 7:35am.
