East end police seige ended
Police surrounded a flat in Old Shettleston Road
A man has been taken to hospital after a seven-hour stand-off with armed police in Glasgow.
Several police cars, a fire engine and ambulances were sent to reports of a disturbance at a property in Old Shettleston Road in the East End at around 4.35pm on Thursday.
Specialist police officers in protective gear and carrying riot shields were seen surrounding the property as negotiators were called in to talk to the man as the street and nearby areas were cordoned off.
One neighbour told the Scottish Sun: We saw a man standing at the window holding a knife.
"I have never seen so many police in my life.''
At around 11.30pm the man came out of the flat and was taken to hospital for assessment, a Police Scotland spokesman said.
"The male was not injured and the matter has been resolved. There was no-one else involved,'' they added.
