A CONVICTED rapist is back behind bars after breaching a sexual offences order. Iain Long, 38, was made subject to an order after being found guilty of raping a clinical psychologist in December 2003 and later sentenced to five years in prison. But he breached it when he spoke to a woman outside the charity shop, Salt and Light in Govanhill last August 27. He pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to breaching the Sexual Offences Prevention Order he was made subject to, that prevents him from speaking to any lone females. The court heard Long went to the charity shop run by a church, which has a drop-in service for people with addictions or are homeless. Two women were working at the shop but when one went outside to smoke, Long went outside too. He stood speaking to the female and told her he was subject to a "protection order" and also told her his name. Days later after the woman was left feeling uncomfortable with what she had been told and speaking to others, the police were contacted and Long was detained. Sheriff Martin Jones QC will sentence Long later this month and he was remanded in custody. In December 2003, Long found his 29-year-old rape victim slumped outside a nightspot after she had been drinking and took her in a taxi back to his flat in Royston, Glasgow. She woke up during the sex attack and heard him saying "Forgive me father for I have sinned." He took a bible with him every day during his trial at the High Court in Glasgow.
