Chvrches frontwoman and crime writer back Rape Crisis fundraiser
Lauren Mayberry and Denise Mina help launch an appeal by the charity to raise £50K to help boost their service in Glasgow
The frontwoman of Glasgow band Chvrches and crime writer Denise Mina are backing a campaign by Rape Crisis to raise £50,000.
Bosses at the charity say demand for their services has increased by 100% year-on-year with more than fifty victims on their waiting list.
The campaign, '£40 for 40 years' is being launched as the charity marks 40 years of helping survivors of sexual violence and abuse.
The centre in Glasgow has dealt with more than 11,000 calls, texts and emails and supported over 800 people over the last year.
The money they raise will enable them to increase office space and boost staff numbers.
Charity patron Chvrches frontwoman Lauren Mayberry was a victim of sexist trolling.
