The body of a pensioner missing since the beginning of July has been found at a Cumbernauld Golf Course.

79 year old Thomas Lamb from Abronhill had buried his wife Jean just days before and he was last seen getting off a bus in the town on the 2nd July

Volunteers launched searched in the area and beyond for Mr Lamb, but these were called off by his family last week saying they felt the effort was futile.

The retired roofer’s son Tommy confirmed the discovery of his dad’s body on social media on Monday night saying:

“Just to let you know my Dad was found today at Palacerigg, he is at peace now and with my mum . I wish to thank everyone for the support we as a family received through the last few weeks it will never be forgotten, rest in peace dad love you.”

The body of Mr Lamb was discovered on Palaceriggs Golf Course on Monday afternoon by police.

Inspector Phil Rose from Cumbernauld Police Office said: “We would like to thank members of the public and local businesses for their support during this investigation and our thoughts are with the family of Mr Lamb at this difficult time.”
