Woman dies after serious crash on the M62
It happened last night, forcing the motorway to be shut for most of the morning
A 21 year old woman has died after a serious crash on the M62.
It happened between the junctions of Huyton and Tarbock Island at just after midnight last night.
Merseyside Police say the collision involved a grey Vauxhall Corsa and a silver Mercedes C180. A man and a woman were both taken to hospital, however the woman was later pronounced dead.
Police have now arrested a 22 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The road had been closed overnight whilst investigation works take place, with the North West Motorway Policing Group tweeting at around 10am that the road has now re-opened.
Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson from the Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Firstly my thoughts and condolences are with the family of the woman who has sadly lost their life in this collision.
“We have now launched an investigation into her death and her family have been informed. They are being supported by our specially trained liaison officers.
“My investigation team are in the early stages of gathering and examining evidence so that we can provide the family with answers."
