Woman and three children rushed to hospital after Birkenhead crash

A man's been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving

A woman and three children have been rushed to hospital after a crash in Woodchurch.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Hoole Road at around 5pm yesterday (Monday 18 December) to a report of a collision involving a red Ford Fiesta and a white Hyundai i10.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service removed the roof of one of the vehicles to free someone who was trapped. A woman from the white Hyundai i10 who was taken to hospital for treatment, and three boys who were inside the same vehicle were also taken to hospital after suffering minor injuries.

A 22-year-old man from Upton was later arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He was taken to a police station in Merseyside where he remains in custody.

Police say CCTV enquiries are being carried out in the area.
